So, like I said before I don’t usually post political stuff on here and I do not plan for that to be a recurring event. I was just so upset, that I really felt I had to say something. Well, anyway life goes on and I am getting slightly more involved than I’ve ever been, but at present I have lots of things to do!
I decided to take a class this summer. Well, originally 3, but some things came up. Like the fact that I have to get a new computer and an actual camera in preparation for my media classes this fall. It kind of stinks though. Continue reading Moving On
I don’t usually talk about politics on here, but today I can’t not talk about it. Yesterday, without it having been read by anyone in congress, without the Congressional Budget Office even telling us what it costs, a second and even more horrible version of the AHCA passed the House. I am absolutely sickened at the utter lack of care for human life that the people who voted for this bill have. What’s even crazier to me is that every single vote Yea for this godawful thing they call a healthcare bill was by a republican. I am sick to my stomach, I want to cry. Why is medical care in the U.S. not already established as a basic human right instead of a luxury? I could go on, but I don’t think I can.
Here is a link to an article about it, with video if you wish for more information:
The Washington Post’s: Every Republican who voted for this abomination must be held accountable
Omg! I’m so excited! I’ve just been asked to help run the new manga and anime club at my local library! I’ve definitely got to start researching now!
I mentioned in my previous post that I have a new online portfolio that I made for my graduate application, but decided to go ahead and keep for now. I already put it in my professional menu, but here is an easy link for you guys just in case you’re interested in checking it out.

Okay, so far the library school thing hasn’t worked out for me. I don’t know about you guys, but I had a rough undergrad experience. I guess I really started to feel like there wasn’t much out there after a bachelor’s degree. At least, not in my area. After graduation, that feeling was amplified by about a thousand. I tried working full-time at what felt like a hundred different places and I could not find anything that fit or made me feel right. Hell, some I felt were doing illegal crap and I was not willing to put up with that. So, needless to say I was not on solid footing anymore and grad school was looking impossible because I’d have to take the GRE, pay application fees, and even then there was no guarantees I could get it. Plus the school I wanted to go to is three hours away from where I live and I didn’t know how to make that transition since I live in a multi-generational household and basically take care of everyone. A while back, I had an interview for a Librarian I position at one of my local libraries. I was really excited and I psyched myself out a bit in all the excitement of wanting the job—exactly what I had reminded myself numerous times not to do. The interview started off well enough, but I was asked some pretty unexpected questions. Continue reading Cultural Fit and Bias
Contrary to popular belief, not everyone who works in a library is actually a librarian. And for those of you that don’t know anything about finding work in a library, for some library jobs are easy to come by, but for many they are exceedingly difficult to find. Why is that? Continue reading Librarians? You Mean Those People Who Work in a Library?
On one of the many occasions of late that my curiosity forced me out of my introverted bubble, I made some time to talk with a few of my local librarians.
I don’t remember exactly which question of mine led them to inquire as to my reasons for interviewing them, but I couldn’t hold off my excitement in explaining why I felt the need speak with them in person. Continue reading Why a Librarian?
It’s up and functioning some though I am certain I will make tons of tweaks to get it right. Officially, I haven’t started my blogs yet, but I didn’t want to leave this page I worked so hard on totally blank!!
